Craneswater School

Restoring a much-loved landmark of Portsmouth.

Standing proudly in Portsmouth since the early 20th Century, the Craneswater School clock tower has long been a familiar feature of the local skyline. Exposure to the elements has taken its toll over the years, leaving the iconic structure in need of careful restoration.

Our team carried out a meticulous programme of works to return the tower to its former glory, from precision carpentry and specialist wood turning to detailed decorative restoration and installation. Every stage was guided by a deep respect for the tower’s original design and the school’s historic setting.

The result is a restored feature that not only honours its past but is built to stand the test of time for future generations. It was a true privilege to deliver this project, reflecting the balance of traditional craftsmanship and modern safety standards that define our work.

The restoration culminated in the installation of a handcrafted finial, completing a structure that was returned from weather-worn to structurally sound and visually renewed.

Finishing the installation was a moment of real pride for the team. A rare project where craftsmanship, heritage, and job satisfaction came together.
